Concept design for a control tower (ATC) for Istanbul’s new third airport.*

The 120m high, Traffic Control Tower is designed as a twisting, self-evolving form that changes as it elevates from the base to the top.  The traffic control cabin on the top level forms the focal point of the tower with a spacious interior providing panoramic unobstructed views to every corner of the airfield. At the base of the tower, supporting office spaces and ancillary facilities are housed. The exterior of the tower is a combination of perforated zinc panels and glass  allowing light coming through the openings, illuminating the tower as a light beacon.
